Kathmandu, Bagmati provinceTo strengthen national capacity for the rollout of the “Users Training on Critical Care Equipment,” the National Health Training Center, with support from WHO Nepal and WHO South-East Asia Regional Office, and in association with Lifeline Enterprises, conducted a five-day General Training Skills (GTS) programme from 7–11 December 2025. The programme trained 16 participants, including 12 biomedical engineers from provincial health logistics management centres and hospitals among others, to become effective trainers. Through structured sessions on adult learning principles, facilitation techniques and training delivery, participants built the skills needed to provide consistent,  high-quality training on critical care equipment across the country. The  equipment covered included Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BIPAP) machines, high-flow nasal cannula devices, oxygen concentrators and cylinders, ventilators, ECG machines, defibrillators, syringe and infusion pumps, portable ultrasonography units, blood gas analyzers and patient monitors. This initiative is an important step toward creating a sustainable pool of national trainers and strengthening Nepal’s health system for enhanced critical services. WHO will support the rollout of these trainings in 2026.
